What is Excel Conditional Formatting?



The formatting of a cell based on the rule is called conditional formatting. In excel, the conditional formation can be based on multiple criteria they are as follows.
  • Format all cell based on their value
This critical is applied to format cell-based on 2-scale or 3-scale rule and can be applied for minimum and maximum and can be applied for a lower value, highest value, number, percent, formula, percentile
  • Format only cells that contain
This critical is applied to cell value, text value, a date occurring, Blanks, No blanks, Error, No error

  • Format only top or bottom ranked values
This critical is applied to cell values based on the Top 10 or Bottom 10 ranks

  • Format only values that are above or below average

This critical is applied to a cell range in which values are above average, below average, equal to above average, equal to a below-average and different standard deviation.
  • Format only unique or duplicate value
This critical is applied to a range of cells values to find unique or duplicate content. Here the data type is more important to find the duplicate or uniqueness of the content.
  • Use a formula to determine which cells to format
This critical is applied to a range of cells values to based on the formula used, usually if or nested if conditions are used.
